Felipe Vilas Boas
lead attorney

The dedication to those who live abroad has personal roots: Felipe is a Portuguese citizen, and part of his family lives in Europe. Following closely the legal questions of those who divide their lives between two countries showed how distance can complicate simple interests.
With more than 30 years of experience at São Paulo law practices, his expertise spans several areas of civil law, including divorce, probate, division of assets, child custody and support, incapacity and guardianship proceedings, property leases and sales, and adverse possession claims, among others.
Registered with the Brazilian Bar Association, São Paulo Chapter (OAB/SP), under No. 175.131, graduated in 1996 from the São Bernardo do Campo School of Law, SP, with postgraduate specializations in Civil Procedure and in Family and Succession Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), and in Contract Drafting from the FGV São Paulo Law School.
This path includes fifteen years working under the partnership between the OAB/SP and the São Paulo State Public Defender’s Office — an experience that provided extensive exposure to family law cases.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to already have a problem to hire the firm?
No. Many people reach out to the firm before a problem even arises — to review a contract, organize an inheritance, or plan a purchase safely. This helps prevent the situation from becoming a conflict later on.
Do I need to travel to Brazil?
In most cases, no. Matters are handled through a power of attorney, whose form varies according to the specific act and your country of residence.
What language is the service provided in?
In Portuguese or English. Foreign documents are reviewed with translation support when necessary.
How do fees work?
The fee is agreed in writing before work begins, following the official fee schedule of the Brazilian Bar Association in São Paulo. Installment payment is available, and fees can be paid in Brazilian reais or in your local currency. Court and notary costs are billed separately.
What if the matter involves foreign law?
The firm handles only the part of the matter governed by Brazilian law. If any part of the case depends on the laws of another country, a local lawyer in that jurisdiction is brought in to work alongside the firm.
